Confirmation of Identity
Information on obtaining Confirmation of Identity
Afghanistan citizens residing in Sweden and Finland who lack identity documents, such as an Afghan Tazkira or passport, and require identity verification for authorities in Sweden or Finland can apply for an “Identity Confirmation” at this embassy.
Important Information and Instructions
- Applicants must visit the embassy in person. This certificate cannot be processed or issued in absentia, by post, or online.
- Applications are accepted during the official working days and hours of the consular section.
Required Documents
The following documents are necessary to apply for the Identity Verification Certificate:
- Copy of a close relative’s Tazkira: The applicant must provide a copy of a Tazkira belonging to a close relative, such as a father, brother, paternal grandfather, uncle, or cousin (paternal side).
- Residence Document in Sweden or Finland: The applicant must provide a copy of their Swedish or Finnish identity card showing their name and other details.
- Supporting Documents: The applicant must submit previous documents issued by Afghan authorities, such as an electronic or handwritten passport, diploma, voter registration card, military card, educational documents, etc. If born in Iran or Pakistan, they must provide refugee documents from these countries, such as an Amayesh card and a birth certificate issued by Iranian authorities or a refugee card issued by Pakistan, to the consular section to facilitate identity verification and confirmation.
- Two Passport-Sized Photos: The applicant must provide two recently taken photos with a white background.
- Completed Online Application Form: Applicants must complete the form online and ensure the confirmation code or number is ready. Access the form [here].
Issuance of the Certificate
The certificate will be issued on the same day upon completing the following steps:
- In-Person Interview: The applicant must attend an in-person interview at the consulate, during which their identity will be carefully reviewed and verified based on the provided documents and family records.
- Fee: The fee for the Identity Verification Certificate is 110 SEK or 110 Euros, payable via bank transfer.
- Same-Day Issuance: After meeting all the requirements, the certificate will be issued on the same day during working hours.

- Document Preparation: Ensure that all required documents are brought to avoid delays in the process. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
