Confirmation of Celibacy
Information on obtaining Confirmation of Celibacy (Single Status)
Afghan nationals residing in Sweden or Finland can visit this embassy to obtain a certificate of celibacy.
Important Information and Instructions
Applicants whose identity and marital status are registered with the Swedish or Finnish Tax Agency:
- Request your celibacy certificate from the relevant authority.
- Register and verify the relevant certificate in the legalization section of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The embassy will register and verify the relevant certificate as a certificate of celibacy for the applicant after it has been stamped by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- If the applicant wishes to obtain a new certificate from the embassy, a separate certificate will also be issued to the applicant.
Applicants whose marital status is not registered with the tax authority in Sweden or Finland:
- Visit the consular section of the embassy with three confessors and two witnesses who are adults and Afghan citizens.
- Fill out the relevant confession form with care, including all details and specifications of the applicant, confessors, and witnesses.
- It is necessary to provide a valid identification document such as a Tazkira, photo, and residence card of Sweden or Finland.
- After completing the above steps and reviewing the documents, the applicant will be interviewed.
- If the above procedures are correctly followed and there are no issues with the documents, interview, and witnesses’ statements, the applicant’s singleness status will be confirmed.
Requirements
- Proof of Afghan Citizenship: The applicants, three confessors and two witnesses must provide their original Tazkira (National ID) or Afghan Passport, along with copies
- Residence Documents in Sweden or Finland: The applicant, three declarants, and two witnesses must provide a copy of their Swedish or Finnish identity card.
- Two Passport-Size Photographs: The Applicants, three confessors and two witnesses must provide two recently taken photos with a white background. Photo [Sample].

Issuance of the Document
The document will be issued on the same day after the completion of the following steps:
In-Person Interview: Applicants must attend a mandatory interview at the consular section, where their celibacy status will be verified based on the submitted documents and information provided during the application.
Fee: The fee for the certificate of celibacy is 1100 SEK or 100 Euros, payable via bank transfer.
Same-Day Issuance: Once all requirements are met, the document will be issued on the same day during working hours.
Important Notes
- Document Preparation: Ensure that you bring all required documents with you to avoid delays in processing. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- Eligibility: The above information applies exclusively to Afghan citizens who entered Sweden or Finland under the age of 18 and have been recognized as refugees in these countries.
- Validity: The Confirmation of Celibacy is valid for a period of 6 months from the date of issuance.
