Afghanistan Ambassadors  in Stockholm since 2013

The Afghan Embassy in Stockholm was established in 2014 with the appointment of Dr. Hameed Hami as Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Sweden. Before assuming this role, Dr. Hami served as Minister Counsellor at the Afghan Embassy in London and previously held the position of Chief of Staff in the Office of the Vice President of Afghanistan. Dr. Hami is a medical graduate and also holds a master’s degree in Political Science.

In 2019, Dr. Hami’s tenure ended, and Mr. Ghulam Abbas Noyan, a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering from Kabul Polytechnic University, a former member of parliament, and a political figure, was appointed as his successor. Mr. Noyan served as Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Sweden until October 7, 2024, when his tenure ended following a decision by the host country. After the completion of his mission, the Embassy’s Counsellor, Mr. Najibullah Mohajer, a senior official at the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was entrusted with leading and managing the diplomatic mission.

Mr. Mohajer holds a master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from the University of London. He has undertaken several diplomatic assignments in London and Germany and has served as Deputy and Acting Head of the Policy and Strategy Department at the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul. He currently serves as the Chargé d’Affaires of the Afghan Embassy in Stockholm.
