Information for obtaining Document Attestation/Verification and Authentication

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Stockholm offers document authentication services for various documents, including educational diplomas, marriage certificates, bachelorhood certificates, birth certificates, death certificates, commercial documents, and other official documents.

Documents Issued in Afghanistan:

If a document has been issued in Afghanistan and has already been authenticated by the Consular Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, the embassy will verify and re-register it in the certified documents database before authentication.

Documents Issued in Sweden or Finland:

Documents issued in Sweden or Finland must be legalized by the Legalization Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden or Finland before being submitted to the Embassy of Afghanistan in Stockholm for authentication.

Original Documents and Copies:

Applicants must present the original document(s) and one copy of each for authentication.

  1. Proof of residency in Sweden or Finland: Submit a copy of your identity card, showing both sides with your name and other details clearly visible.
  2. Fee: The service fee varies depending on the type of document. Please refer to the fee schedule for authentication of different documents.
  3. Proof of payment (for postal applications): For postal submissions, transfer the service fee to the embassy’s bank account (details below) and attach the payment receipt.
  4. Prepaid registered envelope: Attach a prepaid registered envelope with your address clearly marked as the recipient. This envelope will be used to return your documents.
    If you cannot provide a prepaid envelope, transfer an additional 290 SEK for postage fees and include the receipt with your application.
Submission Options:
  • In-person: Submit your application during working hours. Payments can only be made via bank card at the embassy.
  • By post: Send your application to the embassy’s postal address. To ensure delivery, use registered mail.
