Information on extending your Machine-Readable-Passport

New Passport Issuance Suspended

The issuance of new passports is currently suspended. Updates regarding the resumption of this service will be announced on the official website and Social Media pages of this mission.

Passport Validity Extension

Holders of previous Machine Readable Passports (MRP) may apply for a validity extension. Applications can be submitted either in-person or by post during the mission’s official working days and hours.

Required Documents for Passport Validity Extension
For Postal Applications:
  • Completed Application Form: You can download the passport renewal form from [here].
  • Original Passport and Copies: Include a copy of the passport information page [sample]. If the passport has been previously renewed, include a copy of the renewal page as well.
  • Tazkira: Please send a clear copy of your Tazkira, showing your personal details such as your name, father’s name, grandfather’s name, page number, volume, and registration number clearly readable, along with your passport and other documents.
  • Residence Permit in Sweden or Finland: Provide a copy of your identity card (Identitetskort/Uppehallstillstand). Both sides – showing name and other details.
  • Renewal Fee: The 5-year renewal fee is 125 euros or 1450 Swedish kronor. (Passports are renewed for 5 years from the expiration date, and the renewal fee must be paid to the embassy’s bank account specified at the bottom of this page, and the payment receipt must be attached to the documents submitted to the embassy).
  • Additional Fee for Late Renewal: Those whose passport validity has expired for one year or more from the date of renewal application must pay an additional fee of 290 kronor or 25 euros per year, which must be paid separately to the embassy’s bank account before applying.
  • If sending by mail, transfer 250 Swedish kronor or 25 euros for registered mail to the embassy’s bank account (details below) and attach the payment receipt to the other documents. Your passports will be renewed after verifying the accuracy of the documents and bank transfer, and will be delivered to the post office within a maximum of 48 hours.
Application Submission Options

  • In Person: Please visit the consular section three working days after paying the passport renewal fee to the embassy’s bank account with the bank receipt and other documents.

  • By Mail: Send your application to the following address. Use registered and secure mail to track the delivery and receipt.

  • If you do not have a passport for renewal and have been asked by Swedish or Finnish authorities to provide a passport, please apply for a confirmation of non-issuance of a passport.
